Like many yarn addicts and crafters in the UK, not being able to go into a physical yarn shop to squish those bundles of happiness and to see the colours before you buy has been so hard!!! When the shops reopened this week and I stumbled across a yarn shop by accident while stopped at traffic lights, I couldn’t resist going in. The experience inspired me to blog about it and I had the best time exploring all the beautiful colours of yarn. I mean, my purse was probably screaming in rage and my bank card didn’t know what had hit it, but it was a little slice of heaven.
I went to my friends for a reunion and lunch in her back garden, on the way there, I just so happened to stop at a red light just outside this beauty….
Of course, I had to go in and explore the beautiful yarns. Inside was like the craft shop of dreams and I couldn’t hide the pure excitement of being back in a physical yarn shop.
The ladies in the shop were so welcoming and we had a lovely chat about all things yarny, knitting and crochet. They spoke to me about the different yarns that I was choosing and showed me some examples of what the pom pom yarn would look like knitted up.
Andrea’s Treasures is a special little shop and I loved being able to see colours and textures of the yarns before I bought them. It inspired me more than ever to get knitting.
I guess this lock down has really made people realise how special it is to support small businesses. Small local yarn shops are a special find as there doesn’t seem to be many about these days. Don’t get me wrong, Hobbycraft is great, but you don’t get the same personal experience that shops like these give you.
These are the goodies that I choose…
I have had my eye on the Hayfield Spirit yarn during lockdown, but never bought it until now. I’m so excited to knit with it. The other purchase that really excited me was the Sirdar Happy books, especially the little fluffy pig with the cute balls of fluffy yarn. The black fluffy yarn is to make my cat keyrings with, I’ve been looking for fluffy black yarn for a while now so was super chuffed to find it.
I honestly had the best time and will be going back soon.
You can find Andrea’s Treasures on Facebook; Andrea’s Treasure’s – Home | Facebook and is located in Sherwood on the map below.
Hope you enjoyed this blog. Happy Knitting 🙂
